Neyla Martinez Tejeda is originally from Mexico City. She has a B.A in Visual Arts from the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas (UNAM), in Mexico City. Neyla also spent four years in the Catskills Mountains in New York, studying Indian classical music and Indian percussion (tabla and Mrdang).
Since 2006 Neyla has taught Indian percussion courses to children and adults. She also has participated as a percussionist with different music groups, musicians, and Indian classical dancers.
Neyla believes that music is not only an inherent language in all of us, but it can also be a powerful bridge to experience our most free and wonderful Spirit. The uniqueness of our own voice is a gift. If we only remove our own preconceptions about it, and embrace it fully, the music will flow.
Neyla’s family recently finished a two year stay in Mexico and is happy to return to the Davis Waldorf community, which they had been a part of since 2016.
