Amanda McCamant

1st Grade Class teacher

Amanda was drawn to becoming a Waldorf teacher to serve children in a community where a genuine love of learning is nurtured. Growing up her family eagerly participated in the festivals and volunteer opportunities at the local Waldorf-inspired school her little sister attended in Southern Mexico. The vibrancy of the school and the artistry of the teachers there inspired her to choose the path of embarking on the journey of becoming an educator. Amanda holds a Bachelors in Environmental Science with a specialty in Marine Science by Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, and completed her Waldorf teacher training at Antioch University New England in Wilton, New Hampshire. She has nine years of experience in Waldorf education, as a class and Foreign Language teacher.

Amanda strives to meet each child where they are through hands-on and rich imaginative experiences that recognize and celebrate each child’s gifts and challenges. Having grown up in a bicultural family, she enthusiastically embraces binging stories and integrating activities from around the globe. She aims to collaborate with parents and colleagues to bring diverse perspectives to the classroom and guide the children to stand up for what is right.

As Waldorf education moves forward into the future, Amanda sees its increasing relevance in helping children develop into socially responsible individuals who can engage with the world and with their communities in new ways. “What today is, tomorrow may not be. Waldorf education aims for children to develop a creative and flexible way of thinking and being and collaborating” she says. “I do not know what the world will hold for future generations, but ingenuity will surely be helpful for this century and for centuries to come.”

When not in the classroom Amanda enjoys paddleboarding, biking, camping, and traveling with friends and family.
