Family Craft Day
Saturday, December 5, 2026, Noon-4pm – Open to the Public
Family Craft Day is a joyful celebration of creativity, connection, and the beauty of handmade things. As parents and children craft side by side by felting wool, dipping candles, and stitching ornaments, they slow down together, share laughter, and rediscover the magic of creating. It’s a beloved Waldorf tradition that weaves community and memory with every thread.
“
When children engage in creating with their hands, they develop not only fine motor skills but also patience, perseverance, and the joy of bringing something into being.

Making Meaningful Connections
Family Craft Day offers families and friends a space and time to connect, create and celebrate through Handwork. This event has arisen from the shared interest of community members wishing to provide an alternative to the hectic and consumer-driven holiday season, embracing the importance of handwork as reflected in the Waldorf curriculum.
We recognize that handwork provides a transformation of natural materials, promotes inner growth and a sense of well-being in children and adults.
This event provides an opportunity for the middle school grades 6th/7th/8th to engage in a community event as providers of services, building social skills, work ethics and source of funding from these activities to raise money for their 8th grade trips.
Puppet Shows
At Davis Waldorf School, puppet shows are a beloved part of our festival life and community gatherings. The puppets, puppet stage, scenery, and backdrop are lovingly created by the seventh grade students, who are trained in the art of puppeteering. Through careful handwork, storytelling, movement, students help to bring traditional tales from around the world to life. These stories often carry timeless themes of courage, kindness, wonder, transformation, and wisdom, captivating young children and inviting audiences into a rich imaginative world.
