Family Craft Day
Saturday, December 6, 2025, Noon-4pm – Open to the Public
Family Craft Day is a joyful celebration of creativity, connection, and the beauty of handmade things. As parents and children craft side by side—felting wool, dipping candles, stitching ornaments—they slow down together, share laughter, and rediscover the magic of making. It’s a beloved Waldorf tradition that weaves community and memory with every thread and touch.
“
When children engage in creating with their hands, they develop not only fine motor skills but also patience, perseverance, and the joy of bringing something into being.

Making Meaningful Connections
Family Craft Day offers families and friends a space and time to connect, create and celebrate through Handwork. This event has arisen from the shared interest of community members wishing to provide an alternative to the hectic and consumer-driven holiday season, embracing the importance of handwork as reflected in the Waldorf curriculum.
We recognize that handwork provides a transformation of natural materials, promotes inner growth and a sense of well-being in children and adults.
This event provides an opportunity for the middle school grades 6th/7th/8th to engage in a community event as providers of services, building social skills, work ethics and source of funding from these activities to raise money for their 8th grade trips.
We feel the ceremonies and rituals associated with the rhythms of the seasons of nature help reveal the deeper significance in many everyday occurrences. The living rhythms of the year, though taken up in each class in different ways, help provide a common foundation for the children. Children love preparing for the festivals by decorating the room, baking special treats, learning special songs, etc. Nature stories, songs, poetry, and special tales help bring deeper significance of the season to the children in a pictorial way.
