Weekly Themes

This popular camp was uniquely created by Davis Waldorf School’s Spanish teacher of over 20 years, Maestra Marta Juliao. Maestra Marta is not only a Spanish teacher, but also a talented fine arts painter. Campers practice conversational Spanish as they learn in a step-by-step format how to mix colors, use different brush strokes to achieve different effects, and work from the background to the foreground. At the end of the week, students get to take home a lovely landscape painting.

Come have fun with us as we explore joyful movement through cross-body exercises, hand-eye coordination games, and playful team-building activities. Through rhythm, cooperation, and mindful challenge, students strengthen both body and focus. Our time together encourages confidence, connection, and the joy of moving as a group.

Enjoy the endless possibilities of weaving with fibers, thread or fabric. Guided by our Handwork teacher of over 20 years, get ready to loop, pull, and create amazing colorful tapestries. Learn cool weaving tricks to make wall hangings, bracelets, and more. It’s fun, relaxing, and builds super fine-motor skills! Perfect for all ages!

Be part of a learning journey into the ancient process of transforming plants such as bamboo, palm, cotton, kozo, hemp and flax into handmade paper. Campers will bind paper into a book and learn a variety of printing techniques using vibrant oil and water-based inks.

Beat the summer heat by making your very own handmade game! This camp will create a variety of unique games that you can play inside or outside. Campers will make their own board games, build a 3-D memory puzzle with painted and sculpted pieces created in camp, and a large marble obstacle course using clay, wire, and cardboard that will feature bridges, tubes, pits, and gates.

Journey into weaving with reeds. Campers will learn how to weave with natural materials such as pine needles, reeds, and rattan. Using methods inspired by indigenous communities across the United States, campers will create beautiful and functional baskets, plates, and coasters that they can take home.

Make a friend, and the stories will follow. As campers sew their dolls, they will also create each doll’s history, character, and abilities. At the end of camp, campers will share their doll’s stories and perhaps even create a larger story together with friends’ dolls. Surprises and magic will surely follow.

Tours are closed for the summer and will resume in October 2025.
