This document explains how to set up class photo sharing for Davis Waldorf School using Google Photos.

Class Emails and Access

Each class has a daviswaldorf.org account for storing and sharing photos.  Only one person in the class (perhaps the class parent) needs access to this account to create and share albums. Others can use their own email to access. These emails are [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc.

In order to restrict access to the photos, users will need to have a Gmail account of some sort in order to have access. Note that many email accounts (that are not @yahoo.com, @microsoft.com, etc.) are often using Gmail under the hood (like @daviswaldorf.org is). These accounts will work fine.

Keep a file in the account which contains all of the user’s emails. This list can easily be updated when people come and go.

Google Photos – creating and sharing albums

  • Log in with the appropriate grades or early childhood email account and password provided by your teacher or the school’s systems administrator
  • Go to https://photos.google.com/
  • To create a new photo album, from the sidebar, click Albums, then near the upper right, click + Create Album
  • Add a Title (see Naming Albums below)
  • Click on the Share icon in the upper right to share the album with users to share the album with. Important: You must share every album with the [email protected] account so that DWS’s Yearbook Coordinator and Office staff have access to all albums.
  • Photos can be added at any time by clicking on the Upload icon.
Naming Albums

Albums should be created for every event with the following naming structure:

      Year – Event Name

For example, 24-25 Michaelmas or 25-26 Halloween.
