Admission Requirements

We have three preschool classrooms with an average attendance of 12 children per day. Each class consists of children from 2 1/2 – 4 years of age. The number of available preschool spots varies year to year depending on re-enrollment and the number of children advancing to our kindergarten. All preschool children must be potty-trained by the start of school.

Ages
Please see chart below for the 24-25 school year. We invite younger children to enroll in our Parent Child Classes designed for children from birth to three years of age and their parents or caregivers.

Preschool Playdate
After your application is received and you have attended a school tour, you will be contacted to schedule a preschool interview/playdate as space allows. This is a required step in the application process and a time for your family to become acquainted with our preschool yard, classrooms, and teachers. Playdates have up to three families participating and will give your child the opportunity to interact with other children in the preschool classroom and/or in the preschool yard.

We have two kindergarten classrooms with 22 children each. Each class has a teacher and two assistant teachers and consists of children from 4.5-6.5 years of age. Approximately half of the class is in their first year of Kindergarten, and half are in their second year. The number of available kindergarten spots varies year to year depending on re-enrollment and the number of children advancing from our preschool program.

Ages
Please see chart below for the current school year. It is important to note our birth date cut-off is earlier than public schools (May 31st rather than Sep 1st) and a public school grade level may not correspond to a Waldorf grade level.

Interview
After the parents have attended a tour and the application has been processed, the Enrollment Coordinator will schedule an interview for the child and his/her/their parent(s) with our kindergarten teachers. Interviews typically last about 30 minutes.

We have one class per grade with class sizes ranging from 16-24 on average.
Mid-year enrollments are considered on a case-by-case basis if space allows. Children are placed in a grade according to their developmental, academic, age and social needs at the time of enrollment. It is important to note our birth date cut-off is earlier than public schools (May 31st rather than Sep 1st) and a public school grade level may not correspond to a Waldorf grade level. Summer birthday children may be assessed to determine best grade placement.

Interview
After the application has been processed and a space for which the child is qualified is open, the Enrollment Coordinator will schedule an interview for the child with the teachers.

Note: In order to schedule an interview, a confidential evaluation must be submitted by your child’s current/previous teacher. In the event that the former teacher is unavailable, the most recent report card may be substituted.

Student Visit – Grades 2 – 8 Only
After the interview, the student will be invited to participate fully in the class for three days.
