Davis Waldorf School

May Faire

Saturday, May 5, 2018 9 a.m.-2.pm.

Davis Waldorf School invites you to celebrate Spring at our annual day of games, food, festivities, and a traditional maypole dance.

Our May Faire is held on our campus at 3100 Sycamore Lane in Davis, CA and is attended by over 500 community members annually.

Maypole procession and dance is held rain or shine! (In the event of inclimate weather, faire may be shortened.) Please plan to walk, bike or bus as parking is limited. Overflow parking is available at Davis Christian Assembly, 3030 Sycamore Lane.

Entrance to the Faire is free. Unlimited games are $10 at the door. Puppet Show is $5 at door ($3 advance). Jump Rope Making is $5. Pocket Man Prizes are $1.

Davis Waldorf families can buy pre-sale unlimited game tickets in the office for only $5 ($10 per child at the event). We are also selling tickets to make your own jump rope ($5) and for the special puppet show. These events tend to sell out every year so reserve your spot by buying in advance.

Activities and Events

Garland Making and Hair Braiding 9 am
This is the place to start! We provide supplies free-of-charge to create beautiful garlands for girls and boys, men and women. We will also have helping hands to show you just how to make one. Hair braiding assistance will also be offered.

Delicious bakery items will also be available.

The Maypole Procession 10 am
The Maypole procession begins with a procession with the May King and Queen at 10:00 am. Students from each grade follow the May King and Queen to the maypole and perform various musical, dance and ceremonial numbers.

Our graduating class of eighth grade students, dressed in white, then skip through the petal-strewn path to the maypole.

Our first and second grade students weave through the eigth grade students, who then begin a series of breathtaking and intricate traditional maypole dances. The procession and dances are accompanied by music and song from our students from grades four - seven.

The maypole dance is a lovely sight and a touching rite of passage for our graduating class of eighth grade students.
