Air Quality Update

Posted On: 11/14/2018 1:22 PM

Dear Parents and Colleagues,

As we continue to monitor the air quality readings from both airnow.gov and purpleair.com we wanted to give you an update.

While the air quality is in the very low range of unhealthy at 152 (unhealthy range 150-200) we are primarily keeping the children inside. As you might imagine, this is challenging for students and teachers alike to stay inside all day.

For the grades, the children have been going outside for recess but limiting their activity to avoid running and moderate exertion. Woodworking classes are being held outside, with the children sitting quietly and working.

For early childhood, the classes have been kept indoors all day, but this can be a challenging and confusing time for our youngest children to stay inside with other active children who need to move and run.

We are recommending that parents decide if they want to keep their children at home to please do so. A side note: missing school for smoke days will not adversely affect your child’s cumulative attendance records.

As always, we welcome your feedback and questions.
